Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is Tarot?
Tarot is an instrument for introspection, psychological reflection, or divination, in which 78 symbolic cards reflect a person's subconscious thoughts, emotions, and life situations. Through the random selection of cards, users gain new perspectives on problems and possible future outcomes, connect with archetypal energies, or make use of their own intuition.
Is everyone allowed to have a reading done by you?
Everyone aged 16 and over is very welcome to come to me for a reading. This age limit is an ethical consideration I made based on a person's life experience and susceptibility to influence.
How does Tarot work?
Personally, I read cards with conviction of synchronicity; the phenomenon in which coincidental events occur simultaneously and hold a deeper, meaningful significance for the observer, without there being a direct cause-and-effect relationship. This concept, coined in the 1930s by psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung, is often described as 'meaningful coincidence'. Or simply put: coincidence does not exist.
Do you communicate with other entities or the deceased?
No, I am not a medium and I concern myself purely with intuition and psychological reflection. I refrain and distance myself from all forms of paranormal contact and the spirit world and I work only with the intuition of the person sitting in front of me. Furthermore, as a Sufi on my own life path, I concern myself with the Source (Allah) and the natural flow of life (Dào 道).
Does Tarot have anything to do with the paranormal/occultism?
No, originally not, although it is often associated with it because of movies and other media. The history of the tarot dates back to the mid-15th century in Italy, where it originated as a card game. Decks such as the Tarot de Marseille and the Rider-Waite were traditionally used for card reading (Jodorowsky & Costa, 2009; Waite, 1966). However, during its spread throughout Europe and America, the tarot developed into a tool for divination within Western occultism (Farley, 2015; Sullivan, 2008; Tyson, 2020). Tarot cards became associated with the occult in France in the late 18th century (1780s). As stated above, I refrain and distance myself from all forms of paranormal contact and the spirit world.
Is Tarot dangerous/harmful?
In itself, Tarot is not dangerous or harmful, but this depends on the intention for which it is used. Tarot can be bought and laid by anyone, which makes it important to be vigilant against people with bad intentions or who use it for paranormal practices with the spirit world. Always listen to your own feelings/intuition in this matter and get informed by other customers.
